Legoland Facemasks

At some point in the future, this craft project may not be relevant. But, currently, facemasks are still required at theme parks in California. So when we headed to Legoland to check out the new section of the park – Lego Movie World – we wore our masks. But instead of putting on our regular masks, we wore some super fun Lego Head Facemasks! That’s right, these masks are super fun to make and are a total head turner when walking around the park!

You can use any mask you like. I used the Craft Passion Face Mask Pattern. We like the fit of this mask, but the curve makes applying vinyl to the front of the mask very tricky – especially for larger designs. If you’re not experienced with vinyl on curved surfaces, and don’t have a Cricut Easypress Mini, I’d recommend that you stick to the flat-front face masks.

Use yellow fabric to sew your face mask, or purchase a ready-made yellow mask. The closer you can get to “Lego Head Yellow” the better! Then cut out and iron on the smiles. You can re-size them in your cutting machine’s software to fit the size of your mask.

And, you can go for an all-lego outfit with some Lego Minifigure Earrings and a custom Queen Whatevra Tee!

Free Healthcare Worker SVG

This SVG was designed for all of our healthcare workers, many of whom are making incredible sacrifices to keep the rest of us safe. I’m talking about the Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Paramedics, EMTs, Nurses’ Aides, and so many, many more. Because only in the movies do our heroes wear capes. Right now, they’re wearing scrubs and masks and uniforms and stethoscopes.

This is a hand-lettered SVG file, and you can download it to use on your digital cutting machine. Re-size it to use on mugs, shirts, clipboards, or whatever you like. There is also a printable version in the download file if you’d like to print it rather than cut it out.

Duck Tape Halloween Mask

Masks are a simple solution to a quick Halloween costume. In just a few minutes, you can turn a shirt and jeans into a costume, just by putting on a mask. Luckily, masks are super easy to make, including this fun mask made out of Duck Tape. Even better – I used Duck tape with Glow in the Dark eyes – awesome, right?

Duck Tape Halloween Mask

You can buy Duck Tape sheets, which are great for this craft, but you can also use Duck Tape from a roll, like I did. You’ll need:
Duck Tape
Mask Template – I used the Superhero Mask.
Cutting mat
Ribbon
Scissors or Silhouette machine

duck tape mask supplies

Start by laying strips of Dcuk Tape down on the cutting mat, slightly overlapping them.

layer strips of duck tape

If you leave them for only a few minutes, they are easy to remove. Lift up this sheet, turn it over, and lay strips on the back, facing perpendicular to the first set. This makes a stronger weave.

tape back

Place on a Silhouette mat to cut out, or just cut with scissors (I’m a fan of the Fiskars Duck Tape scissors, shown above. These are awesome!) On my Silhouette I cut with a cardstock setting, using a blade depth of 6.

stick to silhouette mat

Remove, using scissors on any areas that didn’t cut through, string ribbon through the holes. and wear!

Lego Mask

I like having activities and games at birthday parties. For my son’s recent Lego-themed party, I was coming up with fun and inexpensive party games, and I came up with this Lego party craft – a Lego mask! This Lego Mask could also be a great Halloween costume – cut out a mask, and your child can be their favorite Lego character!

Lego Mask Party Craft

The kids loved making their Lego masks, and running around the party wearing their creations! And they were super inexpensive! Here are all the supplies you need, I’ve added some affiliate links to help you out:
12×12 Yellow Scrapbook Paper
(yellow is traditional, but I cut some white too)
Silhouette machine
Lego Mask Silhouette file (get it here)
Markers
String or ribbon

Just cut the masks out of paper using the Silhouette machine.  Give each child a mask and markers, and let them create their own designs! If you want, you can supply Lego heads for the children to look at examples, or you can let them use their own imagination.

Have extra Lego masks available if they make a mistake. Once they are done, tie a string or ribbon to each hole, and help them tie on their mask.

Printable Halloween Mask Templates

With Halloween coming, it seems that almost every costume out there could use a mask. So I’ve come up with these Printable Halloween Mask Templates to make mask-making easy. Whether the DIY costume idea you’ve come up with is a superhero, an animal, or a favorite television character, you can cut out and decorate a mask to go with your costume fast and easy!

To make things even easier, each mask has both a PDF file for you to print and cut as a template, AND a Silhouette file, so that you can cut the mask right from your Silhouette machine! Super easy!

Printable Mask Templates

I made three basic mask styles. The Superhero mask, the Animal Mask, and the standard mask.

The Superhero mask template is not as tall as the others, primarily covering just the eye area. This mask is great for any super hero that needs to protect their identity.  There are two versions. The top is a mask you can add ribbons to either side to tie on. The bottom you cut out, extending the sides, so that it can be tied in place. Download the printable superhero mask PDF or the Superhero mask Silhouette file.

The second mask is great for animal costumes. This mask would make a great base for an owl, fox, or cat… though you could easily make a butterfly as well. There are so many different ways to decorate this mask to turn it into the animal of your choosing! Download the animal mask printable PDF or the Animal Mask Silhouette file.

If neither of these masks suits your DIY Halloween mask-making needs, I have a third mask option. This is a more generic mask that you can use for all kinds of costumes as well. It is taller than the superhero mask, giving you more room to decorate, but not as stylized as the animal mask. You can download the printable Halloween mask PDF or the Halloween Mask Silhouette File with three to a 12×12 sheet.

I Can Sleep With My Eyes Shut – Dr. Seuss Mask

I Can Sleep with My Eyes Shut Sleep Mask

Dr. Seuss has written so many awesome books that we all know and love. I Can Sleep With My Eyes Shut is one of those. It makes my son giggle when we try reading with our eyes shut. He’s still learning to read, and making it a fun, giggly experience is a great way to encourage his reading. So I made this simple, no-sew sleep mask in just 15 minutes. The Cat in the Hat’s squinted-shut eyes and furrowed brow are painted on, helping to make it even more giggle-inducing!

This post is just the first of a whole week of fast and easy Dr. Seuss crafts that I’m doing with Angie from The Country Chic Cottage as part of Craft Lightning Week. All week long each of us will share a quick and easy Dr. Seuss craft in the morning, and then do a round-up of Dr. Seuss Crafts each night.

This Dr. Seuss I Can Sleep with My Eyes Shut Sleep Mask is simple to make one of these sleep masks, here is how:

supplies for I can sleep with my eyes shut maskSupplies:
White Felt
Black Ribbon
Scissors
Black Paint and Paintbrush
Glue

Start by cutting out your sleep mask shape. You can use an existing sleep mask as a template, or just fold your felt in half and cut. You’ll need two pieces of felt cut the same size.

fold and cut felt

Using a page from the book as your guide, paint on the squinted eyes. It doesn’t have to be perfect, Dr. Seuss illustrations don’t have many straight, perfect, or even lines… which makes it great for doing free-hand!

paint eyes on seuss mask

Then paint on the eyebrows. Or, well, unibrow, I suppose. A nice big, broken, squiggly line across the top.

paint on eyebrows

Glue all the way around the edge of the bottom piece of felt, tuck in the ends of the ribbon, and press the top felt down on top. Allow to dry, and you’re all set!

And if you can’t wait until tonight for the Craft Lightning Seuss roundup, here are a whole bunch of Dr. Seuss crafts to get you started!

No Sew Sleep Mask

During the long days of summer, or if you want to take a quick nap – the sun can get in the way. Make a simple and quick no-sew sleep mask with this great tutorial. Whip one up in the morning, and by night it will be dry enough for you to use. Make one for yourself, or for a party. DIY sleep masks make great party favors for a sleepover or a bachelorette party. You could bring the supplies to party and let everyone make their own sleep masks if you like. Offer lots of colors and different embellishments so that each person can make their sleep masks in their own style.
