I love jewelry that does double-duty. These Star and Sparkle earrings are perfect for a patriotic party, like the 4th of July. But they’re also great for everyday wear! These earrings are festive and stylish!
These star and sparkle earrings are today’s Craft Lighting Patriotic craft. All week long, my friends Angie from The Country Chic Cottage and Beth from Kingston Crafts are joining in with some of our other crafty friends to share fast and fun Patriotic-themed crafts that can be made in 15 minutes or less! Be sure to scroll all the way down to check out their awesome Patriotic Craft ideas!
To make the star and sparkle earrings, you’ll need:
- Star chain (found at JoAnn’s)
- Blue crystals and white beads
- 4 headpins
- Jewelry Pliers – round nosed pliers, needle-nosed pliers, and wire cutters.
- Earring wires
Trim down two lengths of star chain. One slightly shorter than the other. String the beads onto the head pins. You can lay out your earring to get an idea of how it will look.
Time to close up those head pins! This takes a little practice, but is such a fun technique to learn. Once you know how to wrap the tops of these head pins, you’ll be able to make all kinds of jewelry and charms!
Start by wrapping the end of the head pin around the round nosed pliers, giving yourself a little room between the loop and the bead. Before moving to the next step, thread on the end of the star chain.
Wrap the head pin wire around that room that you gave yourself.
Trim the wire flush with the wrappings. Then use pliers to push in the sharp end so that you don’t scratch yourself with the earring when you’re wearing it.
Repeat with the second star chain and beaded headpin. Then open up the loop at the bottom of the earring wire, and string on the star chains.
Close the earring wire, and your earring is complete!
Repeat to make a second earring. You can pair these earrings with the Patriotic Beaded Bracelet I made earlier this week.
