15 Minute Dish Soap Dispenser

I love being inspired by the ideas of others. This was inspired by the recycled dish soap dispenser from The V Spot and Dip Dot Painting by Mural Maker and More. I wanted an upright soap dispenser, so I found this glass soap dispenser in the bathroom section at Target. The Martha Stewart Glass Paints can be bought at Michael’s.

I swirled together two colors to get the blue I wanted.

Using the eraser end of an old pencil, I dipped the pencil in the paint, and then applied dots of paint in clusters to resemble soap bubbles. Just touching the eraser directly to the glass, and lifting up.

Then I wrote “Dish Soap” in red glass paint, using it directly out of the bottle, which has this fantastic fine tip.

All that was left was to wait for the paint to dry, then fill it up! I could cure it in the oven according to the directions on line, but leaving it to air set will work as well.

All this week I’m teaming with The Country Chic Cottage to share fast FIFTEEN minute crafts! If you’re a blogger with a great 15 minute craft tutorial, link it up and you might get featured! Make sure to come back each day to see what quick crafts we’ve been up to!

Day Two Craft Lightning Round Up!

The thing I love most about Craft Lightning week is that we are dis-proving the notion “I’m too busy to craft”. All of the crafts Angie from The Country Chic Cottage and are showing and featuring this week were made in 15 minutes. Most even less!
Sure, you need to come up with an idea first… but we’ll be sharing over a dozen ideas this week. And for each craft I made this week, I guarantee you I didn’t sit in front of my craft table and think, “Huh, what can I create in less than 15 minutes?” I usually get my inspiration in mundane places like while driving the car or taking a shower. Sometimes I get them while shopping… much less mundane! and often I get ideas for new crafts while making other crafts. Because creativity begets more creativity.

Cynthia from Creative Cynchronicity made this awesome dragonfly. I love the colors and artwork in the wings… click over to see how she got that effect!

Ella Claire shows us how to make 50 treat bags with just $4 of supplies and 15 minutes of time! Super adorable, low budget, AND fast to make! You have to visit her blog for all the details…

At The Country Chic Cottage, Angie glams up her place settings with dollar store items! Go ahead and re-read that last sentence, and check out Angie’s blog to see how she makes it possible.

And earlier today, I made a trophy with burger beginnings

…and I’m sharing a project from the Craft Lightning Linky Party! Link up your 15 minute or less craft, and Angie or I might feature YOU sometime this week!

I love these Duct Tape Deco Spheres. Simple, and so versatile because of all the patterned Duct Tape that is out there! Make sure you read the tips and tricks at Crafts n Coffee.

Come back every day this week for more fast craft ideas!

Simple Trophy from a Kid’s Toy

15 Minute Trophy from a child's toy

Make a trophy using a cheap kid’s toy and a few hardware store items! This is great for Father’s Day, Birthdays, or any occasion where you might want to recognize someone or crown a winner.

I’ve been wanting to do this project for the last year. But, a year ago, I was pregnant. And the gilding used here should be used in a well-ventilated area… and anytime you’re using a product that has strong fumes, you really don’t want to do it while pregnant.

Also, I had to wrangle a cheapie toy out of my son’s hands!

To make this trophy, I needed a few very specific supplies. An action figure out of a fast-food kids meal (washed and dried), Martha Stewart Gilding (found at Michael’s – this one is in gold), a molding piece from the hardware store (comes pre-painted, yeah!), a large washer that fits into the curve of the molding piece, E6000 glue to hold it together, and a soft-bristle brush I’m willing to throw away after the project is done.

Using the E6000 I glued the large washer in place, and the action figure onto the washer. I removed any excess glue with the non-bristle end of the paintbrush.

I shook the gilding to mix, and following the directions, started painting the figure and the washer on the base.

paint the toy trophy

In some spots (like the back of the thighs here), the gilding didn’t adhere well. This was probably from oils from my hands getting on the plastic. I allowed the area to dry, and then re-painted the area which solved the problem.

I decided not to paint the top spinning part of the action figure, just to add a little extra interest, but painting it would be fine as well.

It is easy to add a little text to the base with stickers, a label maker, or a permanent marker, to mark the occasion or recipient.

Next week I won’t be showcasing crafts that can be done in thirty minutes.

Instead, I’ll be teaming up with Angie of the Country Chic Cottage to showcase crafts that can be done in FIFTEEN minutes or less! That’s right, dozens of fun, crafty projects that can be done quickly and easily, while still giving you the satisfaction of saying, “I made this!”

We’ll have lots of fun going on, so be sure to stop by each day as we present… Craft Lightning!

Diapers and Wipes Pouch

Until your child is potty trained, carrying around diapers and wipes is a must. And trying to keep them from taking over your entire purse/diaper bag/tote/car/life seems next to impossible. Unless you whip up one of these simple diaper and wipes holders from Crazy Little Projects. Simple to make with just 2 fat quarters of fabric… and you’ll be so glad you did!

Book Page Key Rack

My oldest starts preschool next week. I can’t believe I have a kid in preschool! Between that an my grey hairs I’m starting to feel old…
Three days a week, we’ll need to be up and out of the house on time to get him to school. Not being able to find my wallet or cell phone will be okay… but I’m going to need to have my keys handy. With a cute little key rack like this one, it might be possible to find them each day!

Read how you can make your own book page key rack at Seven Thirty Three.

Flannel Pumpkins as Fall Decor

I love fall! It starts to cool off, the kids get back to school (giving moms a much-needed respite, and chance to catch up* on laundry and housework), and it is the beginning of a season of fun decorating!

Check out this post over at the V Spot for a quick way to decorate for fall. These fun flannel pumpkins can be put out now, and last all the way through Thanksgiving! I love decor that can take you through a full season!

We all love Pinterest, but please do not pin from this post. Click to go to the original post and pin from there.

*I am not entirely certain that there is such thing as being caught up on laundry. Some people hint at it, but I think it is some kind of emperor’s-new-clothes fable or something…
