Light up Holiday Glass Block

Holiday Glass Block

This project is so simple to make, and requires only a couple supplies! Grab a glass craft block at the craft supply store, and you can make this fun holiday decor for your own home, or to give as a gift!

Supplies:
Glass Craft block
String of Holiday Lights
Scrapbook Paper
Mod Podge
Scissors
Pen or Pencil

put lights in glass block

Start by tucking all the lights into the glass block through the hole at the bottom. Make sure you leave the cord out!

Cut a notch in the bottom plastic pieceĀ  to let the cord stick out easily, and put the bottom plastic piece back in place.

Trace your block onto scrapbook paper, and cut out the square. Then fold in half and cut triangles and a rectangle to make a Christmas Tree shape.

Unfold and Mod Podge into place on one side of the block.

You can let the block dry and add a tree or other shape to the other side if you like – and you’re all done! Plug in your new decor and enjoy your handiwork!
Note: Whenever creating crafts that use electrical power in any way, be sure that you do not use frayed cords, are aware of how long they are plugged in, and that they do not get too hot. This site does not claim any responsibility for the outcome of your crafts.

Quick Creative Wrapping Ideas!

30 minute holiday gift wrap

I finished my holiday shopping… now comes the monumental task of wrapping all these gifts. I thought I would look around for creative ways to package my gifts this year… and share these ideas with you!

School Photo Mason Jar Lid Ornament

Mason Jar lid ornament

This ornament is so easy to make with just a few simple supplies! I added my son’s school photo to the ornament, but you can use whatever photo or image is special to you.

Supplies:
Photo or other image
Mason Jar lid (You can buy these individually)
Scrap paper (I used old Holiday cards)
Mod Podge
Paintbrush
Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
Ribbon for hanging
Scissors
Hot Glue

use mason jar lid

I started with my Mason Jar lid. These can be bought individually in the canning section of the store. I traced the lid onto scrap paper – I used old Christmas cards.

mod podge paper to lid

I cut out the circle I traced and Mod Podged it onto the mason jar lid. You can put the paper on one side or both. I cut my photo smaller than the lid, and Mod Podged it in place as well.

add mod podge dimensional magic

Once the Mod Podge had dried, I put a layer of Dimensional Magic over the photo. This will give it a nice hard and glossy coat.

glue ribbon on back

After the Dimensional Magic dried, I flipped the ornament over and glued a piece of ribbon to the back with hot glue to hang the ornament.

Snow Dough Printable Label

make snow dough

I saw this recipe for Snow Dough on The Imagination Tree when I was browsing through Pinterest earlier this week. I knew it would be the perfect party favor for our Gingerbread House Party this weekend! We’ve invited some friends over to decorate gingerbread houses. We’ll make the houses and icing, our guests will bring the candy, and we’ll make some cute candy houses! Since there will be tons of candy and cookies already, a non-edible gift is perfect.

mixing the snow dough

My 4-year-old son joined in making the snow dough. He helped measure, dumping in the ingredients and sprinkling in the glitter. Mixing was the best part, though!

After we made our snow dough, I filled small, wide-mouthed mason jars with the snow dough, and added a label. If you want to use the same label, you can click here to print out a PDF of the snow dough labels I made.

I used Mod Podge to attach the labels to the top of the jars.

Mod Podge Labels on Snow Dough

Once the Mod Podge dried, I added a layer of Dimensional Magic. I tried both the clear and the glitter versions of the Dimensional Magic. The clear makes it easier to read the label, but the glitter dimensional magic adds a little bit of fun to the top!

add dimensional magic to labels

This is such a fun, easy project. And the Snow Dough really crunches and powders like real snow – without the cold or the wet! Perfect for a little “snow” in any weather!

Glitter Christmas Ornaments

Eleven months out of the year I stay as far away from glitter as possible. It gets on everything, and it is impossible to get rid of! In December, I succumb. It is impossible to get into the holiday spirit without letting the glitter in. So at Christmas, I love everyone and everything… even glitter. Mostly. Okay… not really. But I pretend. Because it is Christmas.

I love these simple ornaments. And they weren’t made with loose glitter (which to me is the WORST of of the glitters). Find out how to make your own glitter hanging ornaments!

Hand Stamped Christmas Ornament

If you haven’t finished your Christmas Wish List yet, you should add a metal stamping kit to your wish list. Then you can make amazing hand-stamped ornaments and other gifts. I love these hand stamped ornaments by Crazy Little Projects. She shows how some simple stamping, and a few easy embellishments make a beautiful holiday treasure!
