Peanuts Movie Craft: Flying Ace Goggles and Scarf

The Peanuts Movie comes out in theaters today! I had a chance to take my family to see it earlier this week, and we really enjoyed it. All the classic story lines those of us who grew up reading Peanuts in the Sunday Comics expect to see. Lucy’s therapy, Charlie Brown’s sincere attempts, Kites, and of course Snoopy the Flying Ace, chasing after the Red Baron.

My Three-year-old LOVED the scenes where Snoopy, dressed as the Flying Ace, flew his doghouse as he chased down the Red Baron. So, I created a fun Peanuts Movie craft using the 3D goggles from the theater, and a few other supplies. This way, he can dress up as the Flying Ace, and chase after his own Red Baron!

Alligator Paper Puppet

We’re doing a lot more reading around this house, and I love to include some crafting time in with our reading. Making puppets, like this alligator puppet, is a fun way to do this. Earlier I showed you how to sew a bunny puppet. This paper alligator puppet is even easier – with lots of ways for little hands to help!

Scarf Turned Simple Top

I love simple sewing projects. Like this lovely, flowing top that Petro over at Creative Homemaking whipped up, using a scarf! She was able to use a lot of the existing construction of the scarf to make her top, which certainly looks like it should take more than 30 minutes to make! Check out her step-by-step over on her Creative Homemaking site.

Candy Lightbulb

I was at the craft store, and found this adorable light bulb jar in the jars aisle. It was so fun and quirky, I knew I had to make something with it! So I filled it with yellow candies, and added a label (check out the free printable below). This would make a great lightbulb favor for a wedding or party.

Crystal Raincloud

I’m loving this fun crystal raincloud! I had this idea way back in January, and it has taken me this long to put it together. But this little raincloud mobile with crystal raindrops was worth the wait, don’t you think?

Crystal RaincloudThis post contains affiliate links that help support the site at no cost to you!

This raincloud was easy to make, and I was able to use up scraps of jewelry chain I had in my stash! I make tons of fast jewelry crafts, and often end up with leftover bits of chain.

To make your own crystal raincloud, you’ll need:
Lace up Cloud from Eye Connect Crafts
Crystal beads (I used ones similar to these)
Necklace chain pieces & jump rings (or buy some chain)
Jewelry Pliers (check out my video for using jewelry pliers)
Poly-fil
Glue (I used Aleene’s tacky glue)
scissors
stringsupplies-for-crystl-rainclo

Start by adding a crystal to one end of the chain.

attach crystal

Loop in one hole on the cloud, and out the other.

string through holes

Then add a crystal to the other end of the chain. Keep adding all the way across. It has an odd number of holes, so I just left one empty. No biggie.

all the way across

Punch a hole at the top and add a string.

add string to top

Add a generous amount of glue.

layer of glue

Press on a handful of Polyfil.

add polyfil

Trim around the top, because this cloud has such a cute shape!

trim excess Polyfil

You can add Polyfil to the other side if you like, but I left mine natural. Hang and enjoy!

C3PO Inspired Jewelry

Earlier this month I went to Disneyland, and put together a “Disneybounding” outfit. Disneybounding is when you take inspiration for your outfit from a Disney character. I put together a C3PO Disneybounding outfit, along with some DIY C3PO custom jewelry!

To make these you’ll need:
Gold Earring wires
Small Gold Beads
Large Gold Beads (similar – try these or these)
2″ Gold Head Pins
Impress Art Metal Stamps
Impress Art Brass Stamping Blanks
Round-nosed Pliers
Gold Necklace
Sharpie

supplies-for-c3po-jewelry

Stamp the necklace. I did not use Impress Art blanks. I wish I had! This was a last-minute project, and I ran to the craft store. They didn’t have the Impress Art brand blanks, so I grabbed what they had. Which were terrible to stamp into! The Impress Art blanks are so lovely to stamp on, I really noticed the difference. If you have a choice – absolutely choose the better Impress Art blanks for your stamping.

This is C3PO inspired, so I went with “Oh Dear!”

stamp-circles

Use the sharpie to ink in the stamped area, and rub off the excess.

Use a jump ring to attach it to the necklace.

For the earrings, string the beads onto the headpins.

Bend the tops of the headpins, then attach to the earring wires.

I made a vest out of a golden fabric (repurposed from the no-sew toga costume), and made a quick Mickey shirt using DecoFoil. I paired it with Jeans and a gold belt from Target to complete the C3PO look!
