Duck Tape Decorative Pillow

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Duck Brand for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Duck Tape Pillow Did you know that Duck Brand® now makes FABRIC tape? Super exciting, right? For years, we've been using all the fun colors and patterns of Duck Tape for all kinds of craft and decor projects… and now we can use Duck Brand® Tape for softer projects with this new fabric Duck Tape! It comes on a roll just like regular Duck Tape, but it is paper-backed so you don't have to worry about the adhesive getting on the front of the fabric at all. I decided to make a faux-quilt pillow. Super easy to make, and absolutely no-sew! supplies for pillowcase

Teacher Appreciation Hand Bouquet

Teacher Appreciation Bouquet tutorial

One of my best friends is a teacher. A couple years ago, I helped her move, and packed up several boxes of candles and picture frames that she got as gifts from students. As we were packing, she told me that the absolute best gift for teachers is gift cards. They don’t take a lot of space, teachers can use them on a variety of different things, and they come in all different dollar amounts, so they don’t have to be expensive! This teacher appreciation bouquet is a great way to give gift cards. You can make it so that it has just one gift card, or several.

I’m sharing this bouquet as part of a week-long Craft Lightning Teacher Appreciation series. Angie from The Country Chic Cottage and I are sharing a new Teacher Appreciation Craft each morning, and each night we’re sharing a round-up of fun and fast Teacher Appreciation crafts from our crafting friends.

hand bouquets for teacher appreciation day

I like giving fun, personal gifts… but I don’t think that my son’s teacher will want to keep my son’s plaster handprint around 5 years from now. So, this is the best of both worlds. This teacher appreciation bouquet lets me give a gift card with a personalized component that the teacher doesn’t have to feel guilty about throwing away (though they can re-use or re-gift the mason jar if they like).

supplies for hand bouquetTo make the bouquet you need:
Teacher Appreciation Printable Tag
Ribbon
Gift Card(s)

Teacher Appreciation Craft Lightning

Teachers are amazing. I have several friends who are teachers, or used to be teachers, and all of them are amazing. As is my son’s teacher. They work hard every day to help our kids learn. Teachers are under-appreciated in far too many ways, and on far too many days. Teacher Appreciation Day, or Teacher Appreciation Week, helps to thank these amazing individuals for giving so much of their time to help our children reach their fullest potential.

This year, Angie from The Country Chic Cottage and I have put together a special Craft Lighting Week to help you celebrate teachers. Every day this week, we’ll each share a fast and easy Teacher Appreciation Craft. And every evening, we’ll share a round-up of Teacher Appreciation Crafts from our blogging friends. This week we’ll be sharing dozens of ways you can honor your teachers!

We’d like you to join in! If you have a Teacher Appreciation Craft that can be done in 15 minutes or less, please link it up below – we might feature your project in one of our daily round-ups, or in our end-of-the-week roundup!

Make sure to come back tomorrow, and every day this week… I can’t wait to share my fun Teacher Appreciation crafts with you!

Modern Styrofoam Topiaries

It was so much fun to hang out with my friend Angie from The Country Chic Cottage to craft with the styrofoam cones that FloraCraft sent us and the rest of the team over at Crafty Hangouts. Earlier this week, I shared the fun Easter crafts that Angie and I made with styrofoam cones, and today I’m sharing another fun video we did. In this video I’m transforming the styrofoam cones into fun and modern spring topiaries!

Bunny Carafe for Easter Breakfast

Easter Bunny Caraffe

Looking for a fun hostess gift to bring to Easter Brunch this year? This Easter Bunny Carafe is simple to make, and so cute! Your hostess will love serving juice, water, or wine out of this festive bunny carafe. They are so easy to make, you can make several so that you can keep one yourself!

supplies for bunny caraffe

To make an Easter Bunny Carafe, you need:
Carafe
DecoArt Glass Paint
Rubbing Alcohol
Paper Towel

Start by wiping the outside of the carafe with rubbing alcohol. This will clean any oils off of the glass.

You’re ready to paint! I used these DecoArt glass paints. For the black lines I used the black leading, for the white I used the 3D opaque glass writer, and for the pink I used the 3D Transparent glass writer.

DecoArt Glass Paints

I started by adding the ears. I put the white on fairly thick. Just take your time and draw them in. If you mess up, just wipe it off with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel, and start again.

paint on ears

Once you have the white painted in, you can add the pink. The transparent paint isn’t quite as thick, so make sure you put on a thinner coat.

Once the ears were done, I painted on the eyes.

paint on eyes

Then the nose and whiskers.

painted face

All that was left was to wait for it to dry. After the bunny carafe is dry, follow the instructions to cure the paint so that it is dishwasher safe.

Spring Crafting with Styrofoam Cones

Easter Tree Ornament Tutorial

I get to do lots of fun things as a blogger, but one of them is being part of the awesome team over at Crafty Hangouts. Every month we do a week-long series of videos. Different members make their own videos where they craft on the theme, and I’m always inspired by what everyone makes! This month, we were sent Styrofoam cones by the awesome folks over at FloraCraft. I have it on good authority that 2014 is the year of the cone… so we thought it would be fun to do some spring and Easter cone crafting!

I hung out with Angie from The Country Chic Cottage, and in less than 10 minutes we whipped up some fun and fast spring crafts. I made the first ornaments for my Easter Tree. And Angie has a fun new take on a Victorian floral cone. Watch the video to get all the details… and for even more fun, grab some craft supplies as you watch, and craft along with us! It doesn’t matter what you make, as long as you have fun and get creative!

St. Patrick’s Day Tee

St Patrick's Day Tee

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, I thought I’d make a fun Rainbow and Shamrock t-shirt. Something good to wear on St. Patty’s day, but doesn’t scream “KISS ME, I’M IRISH!” Because… I’m not Irish. So that feels a little false. I still enjoy the holiday (all the non-pinching portions, that is), and wanted a fun DIY Saint Patrick’s Day Shirt to wear. So this is what I came up with. It was easy and fast to make, here is how you can make your own!

St. Patty’s Day Freezer Paper Tee Template
Freezer Paper
Craft Knife
Iron
Rainbow of paint
black and gold paint (optional)
Paintbrush

Start by printing out the template, then tracing it onto freezer paper, and cutting out with a craft knife.

trace onto freezer paper and cut

Iron the template onto your shirt, and grab your craft paints. I’m using multi-surface paints from DecoArt.

DecoArt Paints

Paint in each of the rectangles, making the shamrock green.

stencil in colors

Once you’re done painting, carefully peel up the stencil, then allow the paint to dry.

remove stencil

You could leave it just like this, but I wanted to add a little more Saint Patrick’s Day fun to the shirt, so I painted in a black pot filled with some gold coins.

paint in pot

Super simple, and a fun St. Patty’s Day shirt to wear!

Oh, and if you like the necklace I’m wearing, you can get a full tutorial on how to make my “Gold at the End of the Rainbow” necklace over at SheKnows.
