Christmas Stocking Templates

I love making Christmas Stockings! You can make them just about any size, and they’re perfect. For almost anything. I plan on making lots and lots of Christmas Stocking projects this holiday, so I thought I’d whip up some Christmas Stocking Templates to use. Christmas Stocking Templates

I’ve made the stocking templates in four different sizes, for different projects. Each template set fits on a standard 8.5×11″ sheet. One on a sheet, two on a sheet, eight on a sheet, or 32 on a sheet – tons of options!

This full-sheet sized stocking is perfect for stockings to hang up – you can make them from felt or fabric – there is a 1/4″ seam allowance already built in.

Eight stockings to a sheet are just too cute!

And maxing out the cuteness factor are these tiny stockings – less than 2″ tall!

Big Hero 6 Craft – Baymax Bandage Tin

We loved seeing Big Hero 6, and making this fun craft! Since we don’t have a garage filled with high-tech equipment, or a nerd school at our disposal, we made a much simpler version of Baymax – a Baymax Bandage tin.

Baymax Bandage tin - Big Hero 6 Craft

Big Hero 6 opens in theaters this weekend. We got a sneak peek, and my 6 year old loved the movie. There is a lot of great physical comedy in Big Hero 6, that both kids and adults will love. I enjoyed the movie as well. Lots of great action, and humor. Though I would love to see more Disney movies that include parents (and not a mom that is a bear for most of the movie, or parents that light lanterns each year in memory of their daughter). My son is very sensitive to loss – if you’re taking a child who has a fear of loss, you might want to prepare them.
It is always awesome to see a movie where the hero (or, Hiro), has more brains than brawn. Where hard work pays off. And that emphasizes the value of friendships. There are lots of great themes in this movie that we’ll be talking about.
One more warning – since watching Big Hero 6, fist bumps at our house have never been the same. And we’re loving it!

If you’d like to make your own pocket-sized Baymax, and one that doesn’t require batteries, here is what you’ll need:

supplies for mini baymax tinTin – I used an Altoids tin
Multi-surface paints – these are DecoArt Americana multisurface paints in Lipstick and White Birch
Paintbrushes
Permanent marker
Mini Baymax Printable
Scissors
Double-sided tape

Paint your tin red. This might take more than one coat.

paint box red

Once the red is dry, paint on a white circle. If you’re not good at free-handing circle shapes, trace a lid with a pencil to make a light line to follow.

paint on white circle

Cut out your mini Baymax. Make sure to keep the tabs on. Fold the tabs in, then fold Baymax in half.

cut out baymax

Use the permanent marker to outline the white, and add detail lines to the tin. Make sure the paint is completely dry before doing this – any damp paint will stick to the marker.

use permanent marker

Use double-stick tape to attach Baymax to the inside of the tin.

tape baymax in place

Tuck your bandages inside the tin, under Baymax. Keep in your pocket, purse, car, backpack… so that you have him handy when you need a little TLC!

Make sure to check out Big Hero 6, now in theaters!

Hot Chocolate Kits and simple gift wrap!

We all need some simple neighbor gifts, teacher gifts, and friend gifts for the holidays. Whatever you make, you can easily wrap the gift with these labels from Online Labels. I was sent these simple flag labels from Online Labels, and turned them into a to-from label that you can put on just about any package… and are perfect for whipping up these hot cocoa treats! I put my favorite hot cocoa supplies into a bag, and sealed them with the label – it closes the bag, is decorative, and gives me a simple place to write the recipient’s name.

Flag Labels

If you want to print out these labels, you can grab the free label printable here. You can see how I used these labels for my super simple Hot Cocoa Bags, which make great little holiday gifts!

Fun Dough and Printable Labels

I’ve been looking for the best dough recipe. I’ve made various play dough recipes most of my life. In my tweens, I made it for babysitting jobs, and since I’ve become a mom, I’ve made many double-and-triple batches for birthday parties. This recipe for Fun Dough is one of the easiest I’ve ever made – and if you pair it with this printable label I created to go along with the labels sent to me by Online Labels, you’ve got a fast and easy gift you can make in minutes!

This Fun Dough makes a perfect handmade holiday gift. Teachers will love fun dough to use in their classrooms. Make fun dough to give to friends or family, neighbors, or whoever!

Fun Dough Labels

Duck Tape Halloween Mask

Masks are a simple solution to a quick Halloween costume. In just a few minutes, you can turn a shirt and jeans into a costume, just by putting on a mask. Luckily, masks are super easy to make, including this fun mask made out of Duck Tape. Even better – I used Duck tape with Glow in the Dark eyes – awesome, right?

Duck Tape Halloween Mask

You can buy Duck Tape sheets, which are great for this craft, but you can also use Duck Tape from a roll, like I did. You’ll need:
Duck Tape
Mask Template – I used the Superhero Mask.
Cutting mat
Ribbon
Scissors or Silhouette machine

duck tape mask supplies

Start by laying strips of Dcuk Tape down on the cutting mat, slightly overlapping them.

layer strips of duck tape

If you leave them for only a few minutes, they are easy to remove. Lift up this sheet, turn it over, and lay strips on the back, facing perpendicular to the first set. This makes a stronger weave.

tape back

Place on a Silhouette mat to cut out, or just cut with scissors (I’m a fan of the Fiskars Duck Tape scissors, shown above. These are awesome!) On my Silhouette I cut with a cardstock setting, using a blade depth of 6.

stick to silhouette mat

Remove, using scissors on any areas that didn’t cut through, string ribbon through the holes. and wear!
