Butterfly Kisses

make butterfly kisses

I have two snuggly little boys. They love tickles and kisses. All kinds of kisses – kisses on their foreheads, Eskimo Kisses, and Butterfly Kisses. I thought it would be fun to make actual butterfly kisses. These are simple to make, and I even have a printable template for the butterflies, if you don’t want to draw your own.

butterfly kiss suppliesTo make your own butterfly kisses you need:

Butterflies printed on Cardstock (or you could draw your own)
Lipstick
Pen
Mechanical Pencil & Ruler
Scissors
Pipe Cleaner

Cut out the butterflies. Score the line between the wing and the body of the butterfly. An easy way to score is to use a mechanical pencil with the lead tucked in, and a ruler.

score the body of the butterfly

Apply some lipstick and start kissing… the paper. I found that I got the best placement when I used a mirror, held the paper up to my face, then pressed it to my puckered up lips.

kiss the edges of the butterfly

It might take a couple practice kisses to get it right… just re-apply lipstick between each imprint.

add kiss marks to wings

Once you have all your kisses in place, grab a pen and start doodling in the white space. Add wording, lots of hearts, or Xs and Os.

kiss the wings and grab a pen

Fill it as much or as little as you like. Don’t worry about the two sides being perfectly balanced.

fill in with words and symbols

Once you have the white space as filled in as you like, fold a pipecleaner in half. Tuck the body of the butterfly into the fold, then twist the pipecleaner at the top of the body.

add the pipe cleaner body

Fold down each of the antennae and twist them in place.

If you like, add kisses to the back (underside) of the wings as well.

Glitter Duck Tape Bracelet

Glitter Duck Tape Bracelet

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I got hold of some glitter Duck Tape over the weekend. And I couldn’t help myself. I had to make something with it. This Glitter Duck Tape Bracelet is super easy and inexpensive to make. I love easy and inexpensive crafts, don’t you? This is a great craft for tweens and teens… but fun for adults, too! The glitter Duck Tape is truly awesome stuff – it is thin and lightweight, and best of all – the glitter stays put. They must use their magic Duck adhesive to keep it in place, because it is awesome how that glitter doesn’t go anywhere – it stays right where it should.

supplies for making duck tape glitter braceletHere’s what you need to make a Glitter Duck Tape Bracelet:
Glitter Duck Tape
Jump Rings
Jewelry Clasp
Pliers
Scissors
Pin

Start by cutting off a strip of Duck Tape, and folding it over on itself so that you have glitter on both sides, and the adhesive in the middle.

piece of tape folded in half

Cut the strip in half, into two long narrow strips (this is optional, but makes cutting the hearts a little easier), then cut hearts out of the strips. You can make a template to cut the hearts all the same size, but I like my hearts all a little different.

cut hearts from tape

Use a pin to poke a hole on either side of the heart. Wiggle the pin around a bit to widen the hole.

holes in the sides

Attach the hearts together using jump rings.

connect with jump rings

Keep putting the hearts into a row with jump rings. When the bracelet is long enough, add an extra jump ring to one end, and the jewelry clasp on the other.

line up the hearts

Just like that, you have a simple and sparkly bracelet!

Wear it out, and get lots of compliments!

Of course, you can make this bracelet with all different kinds of Duck Tape… the glitter Duck Tape is new. If it hasn’t arrived in your local craft store yet, keep an eye out for it… I already have other ideas for ways to use it!

Mini Duck Tape Valentine Printable

Mini Duck Tape Valentine Printable

Valentine’s Day is all about reaching out to your crush and letting them know that you have feelings for them, right? Well, I have a couple crafty crushes. That is to say – craft products that I totally crush on. And Duck Tape is one of them. It sticks to anything, is super durable, and comes in tons of yummy colors and patterns. Plus, now it comes in cute mini rolls (called “ducklings”) as well.

These mini rolls were my inspiration for this fun Printable Valentine, though you could use the Duck Washi as well (yup, they make Duck Washi… you’re crushing pretty hard, too… right?). See how cute this Duck Tape Duckling is… that’s a penny right next to it so you can get an idea of the size of the roll.

Printable Valentine: Bubble Valentine

Bubble Valentine Printable - available as both PDF and Silhouette fiels

Bubbles are probably one of my favorite non-candy Valentine’s treats. Mostly because I’ve never seen a child look at a bottle of bubbles and say, “No thanks.” Usually, the response is “BUBBLES!!” … and they can’t wait to open up the bubbles and start spreading around the bubbly goodness. And then the kids around them are happy, too. It is a contagious, happy thing. Bubbles are awesome. Which is why these bubble valentines are awesome.

If you have a Silhouette machine, you can print out the Silhouette file and use it to cut out your bubble valentines It will also punch the holes. If not, grab the PDF file and cut them out.

I made all my printable Valentines in both formats. Check out the Wand Valentine, Squirt Gun Valentine, Whistle Valentine, and Glow Stick Valentine.

Make a bubble valentine

Once you’re printed, cut, and punched, you need to add a little double-stick tape. These bubble wands are a little heavy, and we want to make sure they stay in place.

Then just tie the bubble tube in place with a little Valentine’s Day ribbon, and you’ve got yourself a valentine that all the kids will love!

Printable Valentine: Glow Stick Valentine

Glow Stick Valentine - Available as a PDF Printable and as a file for your Silhouette

When I was shopping for fun non-candy Valentine ideas, I saw these glow sticks by the checkout counter and thought: YES! My kids love glowsticks. And honestly, so do I. Because I’m just a big kid, and all kids love to snap things and watch them light up. Which, completely non-coincidentally, is exactly what glowsticks do. Plus, they are super cheap. Which makes these Glowstick Valentines crazy inexpensive.

Just like with the Wand Valentine, Whistle Valentine, and Squirt Gun Valentine, I have created both a PDF version of the file (which you can print and then cut by hand with a paper cutter), and a Silhouette version (which the Silhouette will cut out for you).

The Silhouette version has 4 holes, 2 on each side. I couldn’t get my hole punch to punch two holes on each side in a way that made me happy, so I just stuck with one hole on each side. It works fine.

And by cutting it out with some fun ziggety-zaggety scissors, it gives it a fun shape.

Printable Valentine: Whistle

Whistle Printable Valentine - print the PDF or the Silhouette fileI’m doing a fun series of printable and printable/cut-able (with the Silhouette) Valentines. So, if you like to pass out Valentines on Valentine’s Day, you’ll want to stick around. And go check out my Wand Valentine and Squirt Gun Valentine.

This super sweet (or should I say “tweet”) Printable Valentine sticks to a whistle with a little adhesive. Fast, fun, and easy, the way a Valentine should be. And, since this is another candy-free Valentine, the other parents might forgive you for all the noise the whistle makes. Or you might want to send earplugs home for the parents. Up to you. You are saving money on this Free Printable Valentine, after all.

To make this guy, all you need is the print-out, scissors or a Silhouette machine, a bag of whistles, and some double-stick tape. I used some great (affiliate link) High Tack Double-Sided Adhesive from Xyron.

Squirt Gun Valentine – Free Printable Valentine

Squirt Gun Valentine Printable CutableThis may be the most inappropriate classroom valentine. So, it is probably best that your kiddo NOT bring this one to school. However, depending on what part of the country you live in or what you do for work, this might be a fun valentine to consider. Just use your best judgement!

This “Shoot” Valentine is made with a small squirt gun tied to it. You can find different sized squirt guns, and you can fill them with water ahead of time … or an adult beverage of choice if you think that’s a better fit for your audience. Note that any adult beverages would make this a very inappropriate classroom valentine, so make sure that adult beverages are NOT being sent to school. Here’s how to make your inappropriate valentines:

Print the Valentines onto cardstock, then tie your squirt guns in place with a little ribbon.

Shoot Printable Valentine supplies

I made two different files. One is a PDF. Print it off, cut out the Valentines (I used decorative scissors, but you can use regular scissors or a paper cutter), and punch two holes for tying the squirt gun in place on the Valentine.

Cut with Decorative Scissors

The second is a Silhouette file. If you have a Silhouette machine, print out the file and cut it with your Silhouette for super fast classroom valentines!
