Earring Box

Earlier this week, I showed you how to make some rolled paper earrings. And if you’re not a fan of those particular earrings, there are plenty of earring tutorials on this site. And this earring box is a great way to gift them!

This project is part of Cricut Mother’s Day week. My friends and I put together this series to share fun projects you can make for mom using your Cricut. And to sweeten the deal, we’re giving away a mother-daughter set of Cricut Machines! Make sure to scroll down to check out their projects and see how to enter!

To make this project you’ll need the earring box cut file, some paper, ribbon, and hot glue.

Cut out the box.

Fold the flaps.

Tuck in the first flap, with your earrings inside.

Then tuck over the second flap, the one with the slit.

Layer the last two flaps, then glue on your ribbon.

Glue the flower on top, and your gift is complete!

Mom Binder

My youngest was just 4 years old when I went to a school board meeting to advocate on his behalf. It was terrifying and exactly what I had been training for all at the same time. And within 24 hours of speaking into that microphone for my 3 minute allotment, they had started implementing the needed changes. Before and since, advocating for my kiddos has been a huge part of my job as their mom. And I see so many other mamas doing the same thing. Reading books, talking to experts, and keeping up with gentle reminders to those charged with the care of our children. I see you. And this project is for you.

This Mom Binder is part of the Cricut Mother’s Day series that my friends and I have put together. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to check out their projects, and enter to WIN! We’re giving away TWO Cricut Machines!!

To make this binder you’ll need:
Binder
Adhesive Vinyl of your choice
Transfer Tape

Cut out the Advocate like a Mother cut file from your adhesive vinyl. You don’t need to mirror it, since you’re using adhesive. Mirroring is for iron-on.

Weed away the negative (background) vinyl, leaving your design.

Apply the transfer tape, and peel off the backing.

Place your design on the front of your binder. Carefully peel back the transfer tape, leaving the design.

You’re all done!

Rolled Paper Earrings

Moms love handmade gifts. From clay pinch-pots to hand print paintings to necklaces made out of pasta. We love it when our kids create with us in mind. And while I’ll proudly wear a pasta necklace, it is nice when my child’s creation looks a little more posh than preschool. Which is why these rolled paper earrings are so awesome. You can use this cut file to create great shapes for rolled paper beads that can be used in earrings, like I have here, or strung onto a necklace or a bracelet.

This is part of an awesome Cricut Mother’s Day series that my friends and I are doing. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to check out their projects, and to be entered to win a cool giveaway – TWO Cricut Machines!

To make these rolled paper earrings, you’ll need:

Pretty Paper
Head Pins
Earring hooks
Round-nosed jewelry pliers
Mod Podge Spray

Yup, you read that right… Mod Podge now comes in a spray! Which makes this project even easier!

Start by cutting the paper using this paper beads cut file.

Lay them out on a protected surface. I just used a piece of Cricut Stencil Tape to cover my mat. Spray with the Mod Podge. Then start curling around your Head pins.

I put two beads on each head pin.

Allow the Mod Podge to dry.

Now add your earring wires.

All done!

Mother Hustler Tee

Hey you there. I see you. You’re getting up early, heating up that coffee a third time after getting the kids off to school, rocking it during the day, and staying up extra late just to catch up on the recent episode of … wait … what are we watching these days? I’m so busy trying for world domination that I forget. Anyway – I SEE YOU. You are Hustlin’ like there is a tomorrow, and it MATTERS. And someone needs to make you this tee for Mother’s Day. Or, any day. Or hey – you can make it for yourself.

This post is part of a week-long series I’m doing with my crafty friends. All week long we’re sharing crafts you can make for Mother’s Day with the Cricut. Be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom to check out their awesomesauce ideas. And if you scroll even further, you can enter to win TWO Cricut Machines, and some Amazon gift cards. Because if you’re making your own Mother’s Day Shirt, you should get to do it with a free Cricut, amirite?

To make this tee you will need:
A Shirt
2 colors of vinyl (I went with Holographic Sparkle and Glitter. Because hustle and sparkle go together like Wine and 8pm)
EasyPress or Iron
Weeding Tools

Cut this design using your Cricut Machine. Make sure you mirror the image before cutting. Ask me how I know.

Weed the vinyl. Trim up the backing sheet. Line it up on your shirt.

Following the instructions for the type of iron on you chose, fuse it to your shirt. Peel away the backing.

You’re all set, you Mother Hustler, you! I paired this tee with my sparkle Chucks (of course), a faux pearl necklace, and my “Oh the Places You’ll Go” bracelet. And jeans. It would be PJ pants, but this mama has to hustle outside of the house today, so actual pants it is!

Queen Whatevra Shirt – The Lego Movie 2

When my kiddo and I were invited to see the new Lego Movie earlier this month, I fell in love with Queen Whatevra! I won’t give you any spoilers, but I do love how she can transform into whatever she likes! Since she was my favorite, I thought I’d whip up a Queen Whatevra Shirt, and share the cut files with you so that you can make your own!

To make the Queen Whatevra Shirt, you’ll need:

Pink Tee

Pink, Blue, White and Black Vinyl

The Queen Whatevra SVG File

Cut out the file using the SVG. You might need to make a couple adustments – I had the circles in the eyes cut out of the black instead of out of the white, to make layering easier. But, that is completely up to you.

Weed the vinyl, then stack the layers together. This will make it easier to line everything up on the shirt.

The top laoyer is the black, the blue is the middle, and the bottom is the white. So peel away all the layers but the white, then press into place.

Place the blue/black layers back for alignment, then peel away the black. Make sure all of the white vinyl is covered when you fuse (I just put the white vinyl sheet back on top).

Once your face is fused on, add the pink squares in the top and bottom corners to finish your Queen Whatevra tee!

And check out all these great forms Queen Whatevra takes! This is part of the Lego Movie 2 display at Legoland California.

Sock Puppet from a Lost Sock

Okay, the title was a little misleading. You don’t make a sock puppet from a lost sock. You make a sock puppet from the sock that is left after you have lost its mate. Because the lost sock is gone forever, you might as well enjoy the remaining sock by turning it into a no-sew sock puppet!

This project is part of Craft Lightning Week. All week long we are celebrating Obscure Holidays. And today I’ve made a craft to celebrate Lost Sock day (which is May 9th, in case you are wondering). My friends Angie from the Country Chic Cottage and Lindsay from See Lindsay are joining me, along with some of our crafty friends. See the obscure holidays they picked, and the fun crafts they have come up with when you scroll all the way down.

Lucky Penny Bracelet – Easy to make!

Do you have a lucky penny? Or maybe several lucky pennies? Even if you have never made jewelry before, you can turn your lucky pennies into this lucky penny bracelet! It takes less than 10 minutes to make this penny bracelet, and basically no skill at all! The perfect craft for anyone who doesn’t think they are crafty! And if you ARE crafty, there are all kinds of ways that you can make this bracelet more crafty – you can pick coins with different levels of patina, and put them in an ombre order from shiny to dark. Or you could switch the pennies to make one heads, then one tails, then one heads. There are lots of ways to get creative with this simple penny bracelet!

This project is part of Craft Lightning Week! This week for Craft Lighting, we are celebrating Obscure Holidays. These are the non-traditional holidays that are super fun to celebrate – like Lucky Penny Day (which is May 23rd, in case you were wondering). Be sure to stop back by all week long as my friends Angie from the Country Chic Cottage, Lindsay from See Lindsay, and some others find fun and very obscure holidays to celebrate!

Lucky Penny Bracelet. Super fun to display special coins, or to celebrate Lucky Penny Day (May 23rd).

To make your Lucky Penny Bracelet, you’ll need:
Bracelet Blank (see pictured)
Pennies
Metal Jewelry Glue (or Krazy glue or Gorilla Glue)

Make your Lucky Penny Bracelet:

Lay out the bracelet blank, It should have flat circles between each link in the chain. This is what we will glue the pennies to.

Open your glue. The top may be sealed, so you may need to open the bottle all the way and then break the seal.

Put some glue on the center of the first flat circle. Center a penny on top.

Put glue along the right half of the next flat circle. Center a penny on the second flat circle, overlapping the first slightly.

Repeat, adding pennies to all of the flat circles.

Allow glue to set (check the instructions on your glue) and then wear your lucky penny bracelet!

If you’re looking for more fun crafts to make with pennies, try this smashed penny craft (and if you’re wondering smashed pennies have their own obscure holiday).
